2019/08/11 - Moto2™ WM 2019: Motorrad GP von Österreich / Race Report

#AustrianGP: Positive last third of the race in amazing Spielberg

Dominique Aegerter, however, also was lacking again the requirements to finish in the points in the second race after the summer break.

Styrian summer had taken a short break on race day. Because of morning rain showers, warm-up session took place in mixed conditions. For Dominique Aegerter, lack of experience with the MV Agusta F2 in wet conditions was noticeable again. Until the start of the race shortly after noon, the track at the picturesque Red Bull Ring, embedded in the hilly landscape of the Murtal, was almost completely dried out again. With the sky brightening, Aegerter's mood relaxed at the same time. After a good start, the 28-year-old Swiss Moto2™ pilot was able to put himself in the limelight first.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2), P17:

"It's disappointing don’t score again. Furthermore, 25 seconds behind the winning time is too much for my taste. The race began well, because I got off to a good start. But during the opening lap I couldn't defend my position. I was overtaken by many riders. Overtaking was very difficult for me today at all. I had to take a lot of risks every time. Only during the last laps could I ride faster and more consistent. The last third of the race was very positive because I was able to keep my pace consistently. At the beginning, however, I failed to make it into the top-15. I'm happy that we have a test here on Monday. It will be very important to sort out what works and what doesn't."
