#MalaysianGP: Long oversea trip in the top 15 completed

In probably the most demanding race of the year, Dominique Aegerter scored one valuable point for him and the MV Agusta Forward team.

With the second last Grand Prix of the season, the championship’s long Asia/Australia tour came also to an end on Sunday. Sepang has always been regarded as the most exhausting Grand Prix of the calendar. The subtropical climate of Southeast Asia is not everyone's cup of tea. For Dominique Aegerter the race day was a fight for survival to bring his bike home.

Dominique Aegerter and his team express their condolences to the family and friends of Afridza Munandar. The young Indonesian rider passed away on Saturday evening as a result of a serious fall in the Asia Talent Cup race.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2), P15:

"Today’s race was very exhausting. The scorching heat was almost unbearable. In addition, there was the heat, which comes from the engine. All in all, there were brutal 18 laps to master. But I think all the other riders had the same problems because of these conditions. I had a very good start and was able to move up to just outside the top 15. From halfway point of the race on, however, the heat caused me more trouble than I had to fight with the bike. I couldn't push any harder because I hardly could breathe normally. That's a bit unfortunate, because twelfth place was within reach today. On the other hand, we benefited a little from retirements. Many riders crashed over the front wheel. I myself also had a few moments where I almost lost the front. But I was able to handle every situation well. The positive thing is that we scored one point. Of course, points are always the default. But we’ve to improve our qualifying performance considerably. If we’re able to start further ahead, this task would be easier to complete. Next, I’ve to push harder to the limit with this bike. Thanks to the team, they did a fantastic job again. But after this long journey I'm looking forward to seeing my family at home again."
