2020/02/19 - Dominique Aegerter official Honda test rider for WorldSBK project

Dominique Aegerter official Honda Superbike test rider in 2020

The 29-year old rider from Rohrbach was able to secure a very interesting side job for this year.

As is well-known, Dominique Aegerter will compete this year with Dynavolt Intact GP in the recently created MotoE™ World Cup. However, this racing series with electric racing machines includes five events only. His contract with the German team therefore allows him to work as a racer in other jobs. Due to his strong performances in recent years in the prestigious "Suzuka 8 Hours" endurance race, Aegerter has been highly recommended for the role of HRC test rider for the recently launched Superbike project of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER:

"I am super happy and at the same time very proud that Honda has chosen me for their test rider's tasks. With their new Superbike project, a big challenge awaits me. A plan has already been drawn up for this year, which includes six two-day tests. Most of the time we will be in Sepang and Suzuka. It's an honour for me to be involved to further development the all-new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and in this way to support the World Superbike Championship factory team with Alvaro Bautista and Leon Haslam. I am also intended as a replacement rider in case one rider of the two Honda Superbike teams should not be able to ride. In the same context my participation for this year's eight-hour race in Suzuka in the summer has already been fixed. I will be there as an official HRC rider."

"I am very happy that I got this job in addition to my MotoE contract. I always enjoy riding a Superbike a lot. This job will also help me to stay in racing practice. A Superbike is also an excellent training device for the heavy MotoE-bike. I have had a very good connection with Honda for a long time, not only in Switzerland but also in Japan. The good cooperation is not only based on my assignments with Honda in Suzuka. I am very motivated and will do my best to recommend myself for further assignments. But before I do so, I would like to thank everyone involved for reaching this agreement."
