2020/12/02 - FIM Supersport World Championship: 2021 contract signed

Dominique Aegerter to race with Ten Kate Racing in Supersport World Championship

In 2021, the 30-year-old Rohrbach all-round motorcycle racer will start a completely new adventure for him. In addition to the MotoE™ World Cup contract he recently signed, Aegerter also wants to play an important role in the highly competitive series on world level with Supersport machines.

By signing an agreement with Ten Kate Racing, Dominique Aegerter was able to secure a very promising ride in FIM Supersport World Championship for next year. With nine titles in winning the riders championship, the Dutch based outfit not far from Amsterdam is the most successful team in the series with 600cc production racing machines since its introduction back in 1988. The team also won the Superbike World Championship once. Aegerter will ride a Yamaha R6, chasing for glory in his rookie season.

The expected racing calendar for 2021 initially includes eleven fixed events. The World Championship’s visit to Australia has to be confirmed first though, there is another event on the waiting list for a possible 13th race of the season.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing, Yamaha YZF R6):

"I am incredibly happy to be part of the Ten Kate team in the 2021 Supersport World Championship. Therefore, I would like to thank Ronald and Gerit Ten Kate for their trust in me to make this great opportunity possible for me. It is a unique opportunity for me to ride in this professional and incredibly experienced team. I am going to this project with a firm commitment to fight for top positions at the very fierce end of the competition in every race from the very first beginning. I have ridden many different race bikes in my career, but this kind of a Supersport bike like the Yamaha R6 will be new to me. But my experience should be a great help to get used to this bike as quickly as possible. Adjusting my riding style to the Yamaha R6 should not be a big problem. Furthermore, I can count on the support of the immense experience of the whole team, including my crew chief and all mechanics. I am sure they will help me to be competitive with this bike quickly."

"I had already an insight look at Ten Kate Racing. They have a genuinely nice workshop, so that it is to see immediately at what high level the team is working. So, our first meeting has already increased my appetite to start working together on-track as soon as possible. Hopefully, everything will work out with our first test scheduled for February. But for the time being, I am incredibly happy about the conclusion of this agreement. I think that me as a Swiss guy and my Dutch crew will get along well right away. Finally, I would also like to thank my brother Kevin for everything because he had worked incredibly hard for make this contract possible. Thanks Kevin, thanks also to Kervin Bos, and of course to Ronald and Gerit Ten Kate. I will give everything to pay back the trust they have placed in me. A special thanks also to all my sponsors, who have also made a great contribution."
