#CzechGP: TOP TEN ON OPENING DAY IN BRNO

TOP TEN ON OPENING DAY IN BRNO

Apart from changing weather conditions, day one of action after the return from holidays provided a lot of variety from the point of view of Kiefer Racing’s Dominique Aegerter.

In contrasts than to forecasts, it started to rain on Friday morning. Partly it was heavy downpours which hit the 5.4 kilometres long track close to southern Moravia’s capital Brno. On a wet track, Dominique Aegerter had a hard time to get back on pace after the four-weeks summer break last month.

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter actually returned to grand prix racing with sufficient riding practice. But the change from the Superbike, with which the 26-year-old and his team finished in third place in last Sunday’s Suzuka eight hours, to his Moto2 machine was not to manage in a quick turnaround. It was only in dry conditions in the afternoon that Aegerter gradually found this usual form again, although he was not entirely satisfied with the outcome of the day.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), FP1: P21 - 2´18.066 (17/17) / FP2: P9 - 2´03.763 (15/19):

"Overall, I can’t complain about my start into the weekend. However, in the rain this morning, I was too far away from the top guys. So, I was certainly not in best shape in terms of my riding. In the dry in the afternoon, it was better at all, even if we were not at the limit with the bike. There is still certain potential for improvements in some areas. Apart from that, it was my first day aboard the Suter Moto2 for a month today as we did not test during the summer break. Nevertheless, I did not lose my riding skills."

"The Superbike, however, with which I rode last time in Suzuka, differs very strongly to a Moto2 bike because the latter is simply a real racing machine. Nevertheless, many experiences I made in Japan last month were very helpful today. In Suzuka, I had to take care to apply a smooth riding. Firstly because of the fuel consumption and, of course, because of the tyre performance as well as being less aggressive on the brakes. All this kind of things helps me a lot at a fast and flowing track like it is here in Brno. I hope, that I can continue in the same way tomorrow."
