#AustrianGP: GOOD START IN SPIELBERG

GOOD START IN SPIELBERG

Dominique Aegerter experienced a quite pleasant opening day in Austria by posting second fastest lap time in the morning.

After some fierce storms over the past few days in the region around Styria’s picturesque Red Bull Ring, the weather appeared in a friendlier way on Friday. A rain shower after the start of the opening practice session, nevertheless caused mixed condition on day one of action.

At one of his favourite tracks, Dominique Aegerter performed impressively from the very first beginning. At the point of time when it started to rain just after a couple of laps this morning, the ambitious Swiss rider was second at the time screen. This ranking did not change till the end of the session. Aegerter also started FP2 in the afternoon as one of fastest riders on track but during this 45-minutes long session he could not defend his initial position. The Suter rider closed Friday’s action in the Alps of Austria twelfth fastest overall.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), FP1: P2 - 1´31.361 (6/17) / FP2: P12 - 1´30.854 (23/26):

"Today, we really can talk about a good start to the weekend since a while. This morning we had just six laps in the dry but we were able to get on speed and decent lap times quickly. During the second session, however, we could not defend our initially good position. But more important, we were able to set a number of really strong lap times. So, this gives confidence and a boost for the remaining weekend. This track really suites my riding and I’m able to compensate a lot with my riding even if the bike is not perfect. Therefore, I have a good feeling for Saturday and Sunday. For tomorrow’s qualifying, however, it will be important to go into the first three rows. I think, we should be able to do so, and thus will bring back a little constancy. Our current gap with 0.6 seconds is not that much and it also shows that it was definitely a step in the right direction."
