#BritishGP: STRONG QUALIFYING DISPLAY IN SILVERSTONE

STRONG QUALIFYING DISPLAY IN SILVERSTONE

On Saturday in England, Dominique Aegerter was able to confirm the overall increasing performance curve.

Foremost, it was the team’s Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter who cheered Kiefer Racing with a superb ride to qualify for sixth spot on the grid, on a day which started with British weather in the morning after some marvellous summer days in Northamptonshire. But till Moto2™ FP3 got underway later in the morning, the track had dried out completely after a brief drizzle.

From Aegerter’s point of view, however, this session was the only downside this weekend so far because the 26-year-old was not to able to equal or even improve on his lap time from the previous day and dropped down the order to ninth place. But in the afternoon, when the conditions and temperatures were similar than yesterday, Aegerter and his crew found quickly the fast line around the 5,900 metres track again. Beside a very consistent pace, Aegerter shone in his qualifying lap as sixth fastest. After some setbacks recently, this second row start is somewhat of success for him and his Kiefer Racing team.

Attention: Otherwise than usual for European race, the British Moto2™ GP gets underway on Sunday at 3:00 pm CET.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), Grid position 6th – 2´07.024 (18/18):

"This was certainly one of our best qualifying this year. We were on speed already yesterday and very constant this afternoon too. But why we were not able to improve in FP3 is still unclear. In contrast to other riders, who could improve significantly, we were not able to equal our yesterday’s lap time. But as soon it got warmer in the afternoon and the conditions improved for qualifying, we were able to put in strong lap times straight away. In addition, I felt very comfortable and our pace was really fast. So, a big thank you to my team, since they have found this little bit to give me a good and constant grip as well as I had the confidence to ride the bike at its limits for a number of laps."

"We did just one stop and we did many fast laps with the same tyre option. If the conditions will be similar tomorrow than this afternoon, then the tyres choice is already fixed. However, as we have seen so many times, a lot of things can happen for the race. Anyway, the race is always a different story so, I still will try to focus on my riding and having fun. This season, we have not been really able to fight for a top result many times, as well as the DNFs in last races were a reason why we lost confidence. But now, we are on a good way on catch up and work hard to get back this kind of things. Tomorrow we will definitely give everything to take home as many points as possible."
