#AragonGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER CONFIDENT FOR RACE DAY

DOMINIQUE AEGERTER CONFIDENT FOR RACE DAY

Although the Swiss rider was not able to meet his own expectations in qualifying, he eyes to fight for top result on Sunday.

Just in time for day two of practice, fine summer weather returned to Aragón with much increased temperatures in the afternoon. These circumstances, however, were not welcome for all teams and riders because the MotorLand Aragón track is well-known for its high level of grip conditions but these have a negative impact on tyre performance.

Dominique Aegerter didn’t have the best start into the day, as the Swiss finished the last free practice session in 17th position. During qualifying the Suter rider found his usual speed a lot quicker but during the rest of the timed practice he wasn’t able to put together the perfect lap to further lower his time.

The Aragón GP is set to commence like usual on Sunday at 12:20 pm.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), Grid position 11 – 1´54.225 (3/17):

"Today’s qualifying wasn’t an easy task at all. The tyres were finished quite quickly. But with this nearly everybody had to fight as the performance was just good for two or three laps. Anyway, the position doesn’t match our expectations. On the other hand, we were missing just 0.4 seconds the top. But we have to try to improve our pace for the race a bit. With 21 laps the race will for sure be really long and if I’m able to handle the drop well, I can be really far in front over the distance. Regarding the rear tyre we need a bit more consistency."

"I did my fastest lap already early in the session. On this lap, everything just fit together and in addition I was able to use a good slipstream. Afterwards, I did two, three laps in which I was close to that time, but I wasn’t able to improve further. With the second tyre, I pushed as hard as with the first, but I just couldn’t do it. It will be for sure a hot race and I’ll try to prepare myself in the best possible way for the conditions during warm up. I’m already looking forward, although the goal was to start in the first three rows, which we unfortunately didn’t get."
