#AragonGP: MORE POINTS DESPITE DIFFICULT WEEKEND IN SPAIN

MORE POINTS DESPITE DIFFICULT WEEKEND IN SPAIN

After his victory in Misano last, time Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter was not really thrilled about to cross the line in twelfth position.

Race day at the Championship’s round 14 started with a considerable delay. The race direction was forced to change the time schedule due to dense fog in the morning. So this was why the lights went out just at 12:40 pm. By this time, however, the temperatures were already as warm as during Saturday afternoon’s qualifying.

So, it was clear from the outset that tyre wear will be crucial. For Dominique Aegerter, these circumstances proved out double negative as he was not able to ride as relaxed with respect to his tyres. Especially after the victory two weeks ago, the ambitious rider from Bern was disappointed.

After a three-weeks break, the Championship goes overseas for the annual Asia / Australia tour in October, starting with the Grand Prix of Japan.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), 12th (Championship position 9, 92 points):

"Twelfth position is a disappointing result, of course. Especially after the victory in Misano I went into this weekend with higher expectations. I secretly hoped to come home in the top seven. We did not lose too much to the top ten but during every lap we lost a bit too much to end up further towards the front. As expected, the grip level dropped quickly and I had tremendous effort to control this situation. I was really stressed and with increasing race distance I got pain in my back because I could not ride relaxed anymore. Honestly, I’m glad that this Grand Prix came to an end yet because Aragón is a track which does not favourite my riding. Nevertheless, it is good that we stay for a one-day test on Monday. This will be an important day for us to try and continue improving the bike as well as I will take advantage from this opportunity to get better here. But I’m sorry for my team, because they deserved a better result."
