#ValenciaGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER STORMS TO A SECOND ROW START IN HOT VALENCIA QUALIFYING

DOMINIQUE AEGERTER STORMS TO A SECOND ROW START IN HOT VALENCIA QUALIFYING

The 27-year-old Swiss rider and his Kiefer Racing team put in a mighty improvement on Saturday, resulting in a sixth position on the starting grid.

Gorgeous weather also accompanied day two of practice at the season’s finale in Valencia, Spain. Dominique Aegerter also showed up himself in good mood and in a strongly increasing form. But the atmosphere in the garage is still clouded because Sunday’s last race of the year is all about the late Stefan Kiefer.

At slightly warmer temperatures than at the same day on Friday afternoon, Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter was on fire as soon as the timed session, which decided the starting grid, got underway. During the early stages in qualifying, the Suter rider was one of the pace setters. In doing so, Aegerter was already in his second lap half of a second faster than after the previous FP3. Finally, the 27-year-old from the Cantone of Bern put in his hot qualifying time attack in lap three already, giving him a starting position in the second row and an excellent base for the final race this season.

The lights will go out for the final countdown as usual for a European race at 12:20 pm.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing, Suter MMX2), Grid position 6 – 1´35.448 (3/21):

"We have made much better progress today because we were able to make a big improvement in FP3 this morning already and sixth place after qualifying is really good. Foremost because of the short gap with 0.3 seconds to pole-position. Still, the race is going to be a tough one as the tyres drop down very quicly. Therefore, we have a plan for warm-up already with which we will try to handle tyre performance better in order to keep it more consistently. To start from the second row, of course, means that I’ll go on full attack and try everything to conclude this season on a high. The weather will be nice tomorrow again as well as the support from the fans and my supports is fantastic. They give a great background in these difficult days for us. Therefore, I’m highly motivated for the last race of the year in which I really want to score a strong result for Stefan."
