#DA77: "SATISFIED WITH GRATIFYING CONCLUSION OF THE OPENING ROUND IN QATAR"

After a determined ride to bring home the team’s new Moto2 machine in 15th place in Sunday’s race at the floodlighted Losail circuit, Kiefer Racing’s Dominique Aegerter already opened his points tally for the new championship.

Starting time for the season opener was scheduled at 5:20pm local time. This meant, that the first hunt for championship points began in daylight and ended after nightfall. At least during the last third of the race distance, the conditions were like those of the previous years, when the schedule was completely settled in the evening hours at the Grand Prix of Qatar.

In good conditions with less strong winds than on the previous day, Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter once again underlined his racer qualities. Coming from P21 on the starting grid, it was not easy for the Moto2 rider to catch positions at the beginning though as soon as he settled well into a fast and flowing rhythm, his confidence with the bike also increased. During the final stages of the race, Aegerter also showed fighting spirit. This 15th position is still behind the expectations of the team, of course, but this weekend has brought valuable and above all encouraging findings.

The Grand Prix of Qatar was another thrilling season opener as the series moves onward now to Argentina for the next round in three weeks.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), 15th (Championship position 15th, 1 point):

"It was a difficult first race of the season. But I was able to move forward from P21 on the starting grid to came home in 15th position so, I’m halfway satisfied with one championship point at the start of the season. But the most important thing is, that we were able to finish the race and therefore we have been able to collect enormously valuable information for our technical crew as well as for myself. It was interesting to figure out the positive and negative points of our package over the course of the entire race distance. Of course, today’s result doesn’t correspond to our expectations where we want to be and actually where we belong. Two weeks ago, we would have liked to see more nice weather in Spain for our last tests, but now we have to tackle it race by race. We have to look forward in positive mind and I think after this weekend, we will be able to start with a better setup right from the beginning next time in Argentina. It also will be a help, that the time scheduled returns there to its usual way. So, this means that practices will be at the same time as the race. This is why we will be able to setup the bike better for Sunday."
