#ItalianGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER RETURNS TO ACTION IN REMARKABLE STYLE

#DA77 RETURNS TO ACTION IN REMARKABLE STYLE

Riding through the pain barrier, of course, the 27-year-old Swiss rider gritted the teeth to surprise with 15th fastest lap time after Friday’s free practice sessions.

Five weeks after his unfortunate crash during training with an Enduro bike, Dominique Aegerter got the green light for his comeback. After the final medical check and the ok by the race doctors on Thursday afternoon, Aegerter was looking forward swinging his legs over the team’s Moto2 machine again and to the first practice session, of course. Nevertheless, he went with some reservations into this morning’s FP1, closing in P22 after a solid performing at the ultra-fast Mugello track. Although the lots of chicanes along the 5.2 kilometres long circuit proved as a painful affair for him, Aegerter improved by one second in the afternoon to complete Friday in the top15.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), FP1: P22 - 1´54.065 (19/19) / FP2: P15 - 1´53.096 (19/20):

"I’m so happy, that I’m back finally. But I have to admit that I didn’t sleep so well last night. I also arrived at the circuit with a queasy feeling this morning because I wasn’t sure if everything would work out. So, before going into FP1, I got painkillers from the stuff in the Clinica Mobile because without this, it would not have gone so well for sure. Apart from that, the first laps were pure happiness, I was so happy to be able to ride my babe again."

"But both sessions were pretty exhausting. In the right-hand corners and also during fast changes of direction, I feel a lot of pain. Regarding the latter there are unfortunately a lot here in Mugello. On the other hand, I have to say that my team is doing a great job and gives me the best possible support. We actually started right from there we left off before my injury. And that, although I’m able to work with my trunk and leg just for one week. To start the weekend in P15 after the first day of practice is of course very pleasing and came a bit unexpected. Hopefully my condition will not get worse overnight and the soreness will not to be hard either because obviously I want to continue at this level for the rest of the weekend and bring home my thing to the end."
