#ItalianGP: DOMINIQUE AEGERTER LOOKING FOR AMENDENT ON RACE DAY

#DA77 LOOKING FOR AMENDENT ON RACE DAY

During Saturday’s qualifying, the 27-year-old Moto2™ rider paid tribute due to his injury.

At the time of all-important qualifying, the 45-minutes long session decided the starting grid for the Italian GP, the ambient mood at the magnificent Mugello circuit reached a provisional pinnacle of the weekend. In addition, sunny weather and pleasant temperatures ensured perfect track conditions at the Tuscan track. After his five-week injury break, Dominique Aegerter, however, couldn’t hide the endeavours from the opening day. Therefore, prerequisites for the timed session were not at its best. The ambitious athlete from the Swiss canton of Bern found it hard to deal with P26 after qualifying.

The start of the race is scheduled as usual for Sunday at 12:20 pm.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), Grid position 26 - 1´52.879 (7/18):

"I’m disappointed. After yesterday’s really good start to the weekend, of course, I had hoped for much more. But I have to realize that I’m far from 100 percent fit. I woke up this morning with severe pain and a cramped body. So, during qualifying I simply didn’t have the power to push harder. The last tenth of a second are always difficult to find. So, in my current condition, it was impossible. Apart from that, the session ended up making a mistake from myself because I wanted to take benefit from a good slipstream. Therefore, I waited during the final stage for a fast rear, but this opportunity didn’t arise. This was why I couldn’t manage to put in a decent lap towards the end. So, this means that we will try to attack from far behind tomorrow. Hopefully, I’m in a better shape in order to have enough power for the race to make progress through the pack."
