#DA77: "LOOKING FOR TURNAROUND IN THE RACE"

Despite a tight gap to pole position, Dominique Aegerter wasn’t able to qualify better than for P23 on the starting grid for Sunday’s race in front of the enthusiastic German home crowd.

It was a big disaster for Kiefer Racing and its Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter as the race direction decided to take the softer option for the rear tyre out of circulation because with this compound, Aegerter delivered a blistering start into the weekend, recording fastest lap time during Friday’s FP1. With the harder option, however, he and his technicians couldn’t find a similarly good feeling. Therefore, the 27-year-old from the canton of Bern faces a comeback once again though this will be more difficult at the tight and tricky Sachsenring circuit.

The last race before the championship heads into the summer break is set to get underway as usual on Sunday at 12:20 pm CET.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), Grid position 23rd - 1´23.710 (12/22):

"Honestly, we suffered really bad luck today after Dunlop pulled back the tyre we had a much better feeling with. So, today our focus was to work mainly with the option that is now planned for the race. Even during qualifying, we continued our work on a race setup. In this regard, we have made good progress and gained some positive insights before we put in the soft tyre towards the end of the session again, which was allowed for the time attack, but it is strictly forbidden for the race. Unfortunately, we were not able to find the right setting and feeling in the short time, in order to put in some really hot laps. Of course, the disappointment is huge again, starting from far down the order in P23. Our gap to the top is just 0.9 seconds but we can’t make it any further towards the front in qualifying. But we never give up, taking the positives and try to turn the tables in the race tomorrow."
