#ThaiGP: PLEASING QUALIFYING RESULT IN THE HEAT OF THAILAND

#DA77: PLEASING QUALIFYING RESULT IN THE HEAT OF THAILAND

During qualifying this afternoon, Dominique Aegerter fiercely fought for a good starting position for Sunday’s debut race in Buriram. In the end, he was rightly happy with 14th spot on the starting grid.

Swiss Moto2™ Star Dominique Aegerter and Kiefer Racing have completed days of practice at the demanding Chang International Circuit with a very good job done. Aegerter quickly got familiarized with the new Thailand track and got faster with each session. At the end of Saturday, P14 on the starting grid in the fifth row means a significant improvement over the last races.

Attention: Due to the five hours’ time difference to Central Europe, the race starts at 07:20 am CET.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing), Grid position 14th - 1´36.867 (4/19):

"Of course, today’s 14th place is much more pleasing than our qualifying results in the past races. But the conditions here are extremely exhausting. I like the track a lot, but we have a few problems when the tyres start to drop. This is why I’m not able to keep the pace because the bike starts to slide and therefore I lose confidence. This is especially noticeable on the brakes, in corner speed and in corner exit. In contrast to our competitors, we’re losing two, three tenth of a second in these areas. For this, I get a bit worried for the race. So, I hope that we can make one step forward during warm up in order to feel a bit more comfortable with the bike. This step, however, should also help, so that I can ride more relaxed in terms of concentrations and physical effort in these conditions. Tomorrow’s race is very, very long and a hot one too. If I have to fight with the bike during this long distance constantly, that is physically very exhausting. Apart from that, I think we did a great job during qualifying, finishing in P14 for tomorrow’s starting grid with just 0.4 second behind the leader shows how close they all are together. But much more important is the race pace for tomorrow, which we still need tom improve a bit."
