2019/05/05 - Moto2™ WM 2019: GP Espana / Race Report

Dominique Aegerter scores again

P13 in Sunday’s round four at Jerez was the season’s best so far for the 28-year-old Swiss Moto2™ star.

In nice weather conditions, Sunday’s race at the Circuito de Jerez was a tough one. After an accident in turn one straight after the start, in which several riders were involved, the red-flag came out. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured by those affected. The race was re-started after a short break over the distance of 15 laps. However, Dominique Aegerter would have had more reserves over the full distance. In any case, three more championship points for him and his MV Agusta project confirm the ongoing uphill curve.

With the European opening round of the championship returns the usual two-week rhythm. Therefore, the next Grand Prix will take place mid of May at the historic Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward, MV Agusta F2), P13.:

"I think we did a good race today. Too bad that it has been shortened because of the crash. Over the full distance I would have expected a bit more. I had a good start. But in my environment, everyone was fighting very hard, there were many touches with other riders. It was really a tough fight out there. My crew has prepared the bike very well. I felt very comfortable with it. Therefore, I could do a lot of good lap times. For me it would have been better if the race had lasted longer, as my pace was really strong. Finally, I was able to overtake some strong riders like Marcel Schrötter and Jorge Martin. This is not only good for my self-confidence, but above all for our still young project. At the end we landed in the points for the second time this year and at the same time, we achieved our best result with 13th place so far. After four races we have five points to our account. This shows that we evolve each time we go out. That's why I'm looking forward to Le Mans. But first a big thank you to the team, MV Agusta and CRC, and to all the sponsors for that incredible work they all do together. I am glad that we have a test here on Tuesday. Important tasks await us as there are many things to sort out. Things like these can’t be done on a race weekend."
