2019/06/30 - Moto2™ WM 2019: TT Assen / Race Report

#DutchGP: First top ten with MV Agusta

Dominique Aegerter and his Forward Racing team are on the advance. After Saturday’s best qualifying result so far, they were able to round up the Assen weekend with a strong race performance.

In nice weather, Dominique Aegerter was beaming with the sun on Sunday afternoon. The 28-year-old Swiss Moto2™ driver finished in ninth place after an eventful race.

Before the championship starts its well-deserved summer break next Sunday evening, Dominique Aegerter will have a particularly important race for him with the Motorcycle Grand Prix Deutschland at the legendary Sachsenring.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward, MV Agusta F2), P9:

"After our best qualifying result so far, I naturally went into the race highly motivated. I had a great start and during the first laps a lot of nice battles for positions. Finishing in ninth place is an incredible relief for all of us. I'm really happy about this result. At this point I also have to congratulate my team mate Stefano (Manzi). He rode a super strong race today. Storming forward from last position on the starting grid to seventh deserves respect. But our first top 10 result have to fire up us on even more. In today's race it was very clear to see that if I follow someone, I'm riding better, while the other way around it's exactly the opposite because alone, I make mistakes and don't ride that well."

"That means I have to improve my riding skills. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do with the bike either. Today we benefited from some retirements. But our gap to the race winner’s time also underlines the fact that we were at the limit all the way though, we brought it home while others crashed out of the race. Before we go to the Sachsenring next weekend, a big thank you to the whole team, CRC and all sponsors for their trust in us."
