2019/10/20 - Moto2™ WM 2019: GP Japan / Race Report

#JapanGP: Happy with P14

After a long dry spell, Dominique Aegerter left the Motegi circuit happy after one of his strongest races aboard the MV Agusta F2.

After a rainy Saturday, Japan's colourful autumn weather appeared from its best side on race day again. Equally like the bright sunshine, Dominique Aegerter packed his racing gear for the next race with a big smile on his face. With two points from the round 16th of the season in his luggage, he moves over to Australia confident.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2), P14:

"Race day has started well not only because of the nice weather today. During this morning’s warm-up session, we managed to improve the bike further. Some changes really paid off and put us on the right way. But for the race, I had to start again from far behind. Yesterday's qualifying was a disaster because of the mixed conditions. But my race went quite well right from the start. I was able to make up many positions by my own and at the finish line, I was just 15 seconds behind the race winner’s time. After many disappointing races we finally scored points again today. I think it was one of our strongest races this year with the MV Agusta F2. I'm very satisfied with this performance. But we finally have to make it into the first five or six rows of the starting grid. That would make things a lot easier for us on Sunday to keep up with the guys. We've made steady progress since the last races"

"In addition, CRC and our engineers are constantly adding new parts, thanks to which we can constantly improve our overall package. That's really very satisfying and it's also nice for me, for the whole team and for everyone working in the background working so hard for this project. Not least for our sponsors either, who support this project so actively. I’m also happy about the team’s performance today as Stefano managed it to finish in the top ten. Everyone did a really great job. So, thanks to everyone and also many thanks to all Japanese fans. It's incredible how much respect they show and yet are so enthusiastic. They give me a lot of strength. So, it's always nice to race here. Finally, I would like to mention that hopefully I can secure my future for next year soon. It's high time to have everything fixed."
