2020/08/06 - Moto2™ World Championship 2020: GP Ceske republiky / Preview

Dominique Aegerter to replace Jesko Raffin at Brno

For the 29-year-old leader of the MotoE™ World Cup from the canton of Berne, the waiting time until his next race was much shorter than initially assumed.

At round four of the season, Dominique Aegerter will replace his compatriot Jesko Raffin in the Dutch NTS RW Racing GP team this weekend. Since the last race in Jerez two weeks ago, the 24-year-old Raffin from Zurich has been struggling with mysterious exhaustion syndromes. Aegerter's all-rounder qualities, however, are well known. Therefore, the change from the MotoE bike with which he had dominated the competition in Jerez last time, aboard the Japanese manufacturer’s NTS Moto2 prototype should not be a too big task for him. For the time being, Aegerter will only race the Brno GP instead of Raffin at RW Racing.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (NTS RW Racing GP, NTS):

"I am incredibly happy about my comeback in Moto2, even if it is only temporary. At the same time, I feel incredibly sorry for Jesko that he cannot ride. I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery, and that they also will find out quickly what is wrong with his health. Hopefully, he can come back soon. First, a big thank you to RW Racing for this chance, and also to my Intact team for their permission giving me this opportunity to race at Brno. I am already curious what the weekend will bring. The NTS bike is again new for me. It is already the fourth different chassis that I will ride in this category. Despite the many unknown factors that are waiting for me, I will try to represent my compatriot Jesko and Switzerland in the best possible way."

"Furthermore, I will also try to help to bring in my experience in order to further develop the still young NTS project. But after almost three quarters of a year without any Moto2 kilometres it will certainly not an easy task. Nevertheless, I will give everything to put in my best performance and to justify the confidence of NTS and RW Racing. I know when everything fits that I am fast. I think I have recently proved that with the MotoE bike. So, I hope that after a short period of getting used to the new environment I will quickly be able to keep up with the world's best Moto2 riders. Apart from that, it is a great opportunity for me to stay in racing practice. Racing is simply still the best practice at all. But I do not count Brno among my favourites though, fortunately, it will be less hot than during the last race weekends in Spain. Immediately after my return to Switzerland I continued my usual training program. I feel in top condition and I am ready for a hot "Rock'n Roll" this weekend. Many thanks again to everyone involved who made this opportunity possible for me."
