2020/08/12 - Moto2™ World Championship 2020: Motorrad GP von Österreich / Preview

#AustrianGP: Dominique Aegerter also to race at Spielberg

The 29-year-old experienced rider from the canton of Bern will take over Jesko Raffin’s race bike and his crew in the Dutch based NTS RW Racing GP team for the next two Grand Prix either.

For Dominique Aegerter there will be another opportunity this weekend and then a week later to replace his compatriot Jesko Raffin, who is still in poor health. This time Aegerter is much more relaxed about his upcoming task at the Austrian Grand Prix, as he now knows his environment and the Japanese NTS Moto2 racing machine much better than he did a week ago at Brno, Czech Republic.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (NTS RW Racing GP, NTS):

"Of course, I am deeply sorry for Jesko that his health still causes him problems. So once again my best wishes for his recovery and that he can come back soon. I hope that he knows quickly what is going on in his body now. On the other hand, I am incredibly happy that I will get another chance to work with the RW Racing Team at both races in Austria. I will of course do my absolute best to represent Jesko properly on the one hand and to put Switzerland in the sporting limelight on the other. The experience I gained last weekend with this team and the relatively young bike should now pay off."

"After nine months of absence from Moto2 category it was not easy to get a foothold again immediately. But Spielberg is a track which is a lot more suitable to my riding because it is a stop-and-go circuit, I like that a lot. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to prove my potential twice. So, if things do not go well right away on the first weekend, then I have a second chance a week later. Nevertheless, I want to finish in the points this Sunday. The package is certainly capable of it. Moreover, I was immediately on the same wavelength with the crew, which was unknown until recently. So, all the conditions for a more successful performance are given. It is mainly up to me to make it happen. But first, my thanks to RW Racing for trusting me again."
