2021/03/01 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup: Beginning of pre-season testings

Dominique Aegerter to start pre-season testing

The 30-year-old rider from Rohrbach will spend the next three days in southern Spain preparing for his mission to win the 2021 title in MotoE™ World Cup.

Apart from a one-week break, Dominique Aegerter has been in Spain since mid-January, where he is physically preparing for the tasks ahead in best conditions. The ambitious athlete has stowed three training bikes (one each of motocross, flat track and supermoto) in his van, plus a road-race bike and a mountain bike. Quite spontaneously, Aegerter was recently able to get grips with a Yamaha R6 at a track-day event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This year, he will contest his rookie season in the Supersport World Championship with such a production-based racing bike and try to be successful right from the start.

As well known, the very experienced Swiss rider will also compete again in the electric bike championship as part of the Grand Prix series. Together with the German Dynavolt Intact GP team, the aim is to make up for the title win they missed last year very unfortunately. The MotoE™ World Cup season begins this week with the first official three-day tests at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER:

"After this long winter break, I'm really looking forward to the first tests this year. In the past few weeks, however, I have had a great time to prepare myself in the best possible way. I went to Spain for three weeks in January. In the Valencia area I was riding and practicing at many different off-road tracks. Extensive bike and mountain bike tours were also part of the daily training program. After a week at home in Switzerland, I returned to Spain a week and a half ago. Apart from our first MotoE testing this week in Jerez, Barcelona was and will be my stop for this stay. There as there I have always met many professional riders at motocross tracks or flat- and dirt-tracks. Training in a group encourages you to try even harder. But the fun factor was never missing."

"Last Wednesday I came a bit surprising to my first roll-out with a Yamaha R6. At this point I would like to express a big thank you to my supplier IXS and the Swiss Yamaha dealer, Hostettler AG, who provided me with this bike. I would also like to thank my brother Kevin, who brought the bike to Barcelona without further ado. After the first laps at the Barcelona circuit, I was pleasantly surprised by the handling of the R6. I had an incredible amount of joy riding this bike right from the start and was also able to build up a good feeling immediately. But I was most pleased to be riding at a circuit again after such a long time. It was a great experience in every respect. At the same time, it was also a good warm-up for the upcoming MotoE test starting this Tuesday. As things stand, the first joint test with the Ten Kate team and the Supersport bike for the World Championship is scheduled for the end of this month. I am already looking forward to the start of this collaboration. But before that I'm looking forward to meeting my Intact crew this week."
