After a solid first free practice, Dominique Aegerter managed to jump from P9 to first place in the second free Friday session.

After a strong debut at last weekend's Supersport World Championship season opener at Spain's MotorLand Aragón circuit, Domminique Aegerter and his Ten Kate Racing team from the Netherlands continued at the same level in Estoril on Friday where they were a week ago. In sunny conditions, the WorldSSP rookie set the best lap time of the day during FP2 with a 1'40.571. Therefore, it was a successful return for the 30-year-old Swiss rider to the Circuito do Estoril located closely to the Atlantic coast of Portugal.

"I was here for the last time in 2012 when I raced in Moto2 at the Grand Prix. So, it has been a while since I rode on this track and that was why it took five or six laps this morning to find the ideal line with the Supersport bike. After the Aragón weekend, the whole team worked hard to prepare some new parts and settings. But I also took a close look at the data and tried to change my riding style a bit. In the end, we finished Friday with at the top spot of the standings. That is certainly not a bad start to the weekend. Nevertheless, we will continue to work hard because this class is incredibly equally balanced."

"But I am already looking forward to the first race on Saturday afternoon. Before that, however, everything has to go right in Superpole so that we can secure a good starting position. However, the track conditions will be very different from those in the afternoon. The asphalt temperatures will be up to 15 degrees lower. Fortunately, the weather is supposed to be very stable this weekend. Nevertheless, a big battle is to be expected. But I think we are on the right way in terms of preparing for the races. A big thanks to the whole team for their tireless efforts."
