2021/11/02 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: With Ten Kate Racing Yamaha

Dominique Aegerter und Ten Kate Racing: The «Dream-Team» continues also in 2022 together

Newly crowned FIM Supersport World Champion Dominique Aegerter and the successful racing team from the Netherlands will again form an outfit next year with the aim to successfully defend their title.

It is with great relief that Dominique Aegerter can now announce his plans for next season. The 31-year-old motorcycle racing pro from Rohrbach in the canton of Bern will once again compete in FIM Supersport World Championship in 2022, backed by his World Championship winning team. Aegerter and his experienced background will then also rely on proven technology in form of a Yamaha R6 Supersport machince, although more extensive changes will come into force in this class from next year in terms of the technical regulations.

Aegerter is also in talks to launch a new attack on the FIM MotoE World Cup with Intact GP in 2022. A decision on this is to be made in the next few weeks as soon as the racing calendars of both series will become more clear.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6):

"I am very happy to continue with the Ten Kate team in WorldSSP. After winning the world championship two weeks ago, it was a great concern for me to continue my career with the team with which I was able to celebrate many wonderful successes this year. But we still have one race weekend to go in 2021. Despite achieving our goal for our first year ahead of schedule, the end of the season in two and a half weeks is just as important for us. We still have to score as many points as possible for the team standings so that we can clinch the title there, too. Since all the other awards such as qualifying standings, fastest race laps, etc., already belong to us, we want this one too, of course. So, it is time to start preparing for the last two races in Indonesia."

"By signing the new contract, however, I am already looking forward to next season. I am incredibly happy that we are continuing with the same crew. We have got on very well with each other right away and collected a lot of valuable data this year. Everything together should be a great help for us next year, even though every new championship is a new challenge. The goal is quite clear, as we definitely want to successfully defend the title. But my personal objective is to fight for the podium, if not for victory in every race. We will always give everything for that."

"As WorldSSP Champion, I am very relieved that a highly professional team like Ten Kate continues to trust me. I will prepare myself in the best possible way during the winter months to repay that trust with no fewer top results than this year and the title defence which I am aiming for. The goal beyond that is to move up to the World Superbike Championship with Ten Kate on a factory-supported bike. I feel at home with them. That gives me a lot of confidence, which is what it takes to be successful at the track. I am looking forward already to seeing the whole team again when we start our homework for 2022. But before that, a big thank you once again to all the sponsors, suppliers, and everyone else involved who helped us making this dream come true. I do not want to forget my brother Kevin, who is very involved in my management, and my entire family, who are always behind me. Thank you for everything, without you I would never have come this far."
