After initial change over issues, Dominique Aegerter got back into the swing of things on the final day of testing in Jerez.

The 31-year-old Dominique Aegerter also had to endure a weather-related mixed pre-season for the electric bike series. Changeable conditions on the second day of the three-day test at the Ciruito de Jerez forced Aegerter and his Dynavolt Intact GP team to do nothing. After a heavy overnight rain shower last night, the prospects in the morning were not much better, despite a lot of sunshine, as the 4.4-kilometer track dried out only slowly. At the time of the day's second session shortly after noon, there were still many damp spots along a lap.

In less-than-ideal track conditions, however, the Swiss rider from the canton of Bern found a better feeling for his MotoE bike again. In the process, Aegerter improved to a 1'49.127, making him second fastest in this free practice session. The timesheet from this session was then also used as starting grid for a race simulation later in the afternoon. Aegerter, therefore, left the line from second spot in the front row. At the latest from this point, he was again one with his electric race bike. After entering the first corner in first place, Aegerter got passed by two competitors on the opening lap. But it was to take only a few laps before he caught his front runners again in turn and finished this race simulation superiorly in first place. Aegerter set a personal best of 1'48.480 in the process, which was just 0.022 seconds off the fastest lap time of the test overall.

The MotoE racing season opens at the Gran Premio de Espana in Jerez in two and a half weeks' time.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"Finally, we are done with testing, and it can also start racing in the MotoE series. However, the past three days have taken what felt like an eternity because of all the waiting. On Monday it was dry, so we could go through three sessions. The changeover to the MotoE bike was not so easy for me this time and on Tuesday the weather was strange. Sun and rain alternated all day. The track was never really dry, but never completely wet either, so that we did not do a single lap in those conditions. There would have been no point in trying anything or risking anything. The day was not good at all for confidence, after I was not so fast on the first day either. On the morning of the last day, the track was still half wet, half dry. Very reluctantly we skipped the first session."

"In the second session shortly after midday, the track was finally in good condition, and I also got on much better straight away. My new crew with Patrick and Thomas worked out a good setting and gave me a good bike. I felt much more comfortable with it than on Monday and my lap times got faster again. As a conclusion there was a race simulation, into which I started as second. The distance was nine laps. Towards the end of the race, the battery was running pretty low. But it worked out, although the lap times were at a very high-level right to the end. I got away well at the start and was initially third. Four laps before the end I took the lead and by the time I reached the finish I was 1.6 seconds ahead. It did me good to finish this simulation in first place though, what is more important, that my fastest lap time in this session was the second-fastest of the test. But it is much more important to have finished the last test with a good feeling. Hopefully I will also be able to score the 25 points when we have the first races here in Jerez in two and a half weeks. However, this race simulation should not be overrated, as some of the main rivals have not fully attacked as they have not put all their cards on the table yet, as they slowed down on the first lap."

"I, on the other hand, was super happy with my pace, the lap times were fast, and my rhythm was strong. Even though it was only a test, I did everything right in this simulation. That gives confidence. In addition, my mini crew did a great job again during this test. A big thanks to Patrick and Thomas. In a week's time I will be back on the grid in Supersport World Championship. There is a lot at stake at the home race of the Ten Kate team in Assen. A week later, it is off to the MotoE World Cup here in Jerez and I am looking forward to the first race weekend with the new format as far as qualifying is concerned, as well as there being two races per weekend from this season onwards. So, this means one on Saturday and one on Sunday. That will certainly be a lot of fun. After two years, spectators will also be able to attend Jerez again and more guests will be coming into the paddock. I am particularly looking forward to that. Over the next few days, I will be recovering a bit from the last week and a half, which was very stressful for me. In the process, I also will give my bruised rib a break. Beyond all, it is nice that I can spend the Easter weekend at home with my family. At this point, happy Easter to you all!"
