2022/04/21 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: Dutch Round / Preview

Lots of euphoric for Assen home round

Heading into the second round of 2022 Supersport World Championship, a season highlight awaits Dominique Aegerter this weekend at the famous TT Circuit of Assen in the northern part of the Netherlands.

With a second place and a brilliant victory at the championship’s opener one and a half week ago in Spain, Dominique Aegerter comes to the home race of his Ten Kate team as world championship leader. Also, the images from last year are unforgettable, when the Yamaha rider and his world championship winning team made everything clear in front of a limited number of home fans with pole position and two race wins in Assen, racing in a bright yellow outfit the reigning champion likes so much. On top of that, Aegerter owns all track records in Supersport category in the «Cathedral of Speed» since then.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6)

"I am really looking forward to our second race weekend this year. Assen is always something very special but in Supersport, however, this race has even more significance, as it is the home race of my Ten Kate team. An occasion that makes me even more euphoric. However, it is a bit of a shame that we do not have a special livery this time. I would have loved it incredibly if we would be in a bright yellow outfit like last year. But I firmly expect Assen to be just as a great event with our standard blue either. Our goal for this weekend is to fight for top results and to collect as many points as possible. But after the strong second Aragón race, I am secretly speculating to win on Saturday and Sunday. I have always liked Assen because I like the track and there are also fond memories of last year when I was here for the first time as a Supersport World Championship rider."

"Before the season started with the long week at MotorLand Aragón, we had a test in Assen. Although it was very cold, we were able to work well and gained some valuable insights. In terms of electronics tuning, as well as the gearbox ratio, we will certainly have a small advantage going into the weekend on Friday. However, the weather could play a role if it becomes changeable what is nothing unusual here. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the task ahead. Of course, I want to shine especially brightly at the team's home round, especially since all the sponsors, partners and supporters will come to cheer us. I am looking forward to giving our guests a deeper insight into our business, showing them around and giving them an unforgettable experience. After two years, the paddock is finally open to more guests. The paddock show is for sure to be an eye-catcher in this series, where you can meet the riders closely."
