2022/05/12 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2022: Grand Prix de France / Preview

Next stop in MotoE™: historic Le Mans circuit

After a decent start to the season in the electric bike series, Dominique Aegerter arrives in France for round two of this year’s MotoE™ World Cup in second place overall.

On Sunday before last, Dominique Aegerter wasted a possible double podium in the season's opening round only in the last turn before the chequered flag. The ambitious athlete from the canton of Bern would like to wipe out this disgrace at the first opportunity. This weekend, chances are good to do so, even though the 31-year-old rider has never finished in the top three in his previous MotoE starts at Le Mans.

The weekend's two races will be broadcast by SRF via livestream on srf.ch/sport or in the SRFsport app.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"A year ago, I finished fourth at Le Mans after a race-long battle. The year before, there was a lot of bad luck involved when it came to deciding the title. Nevertheless, I like Le Mans. I know the track inside out from many races in the 125cc and Moto2 classes. However, the weather often plays its role at Le Mans. That is why I am hoping for stable conditions so that we can ride all the sessions in the dry. Unlike Jerez, where we often visit with the e-bike - testing and racing - MotoE has only been to Le Mans twice so far and the schedule does not give us much opportunity to get used to the track."

"Jerez was a good start to the season despite my mistake in the second race. With a second and a fourth place, I scored important points for the overall standings. At Le Mans I will be giving everything again to finish on the podium twice. Hopefully we will make it onto the front row of the grid this time, which would be a big help for the races. But first, I am looking forward to a nice race weekend, even if the trip to Le Mans contained some annoyance, and to meeting the whole Intact team again. In addition, I think the new schedule with one race each on Saturday and Sunday is super cool, as well as the new qualifying mode being well received. I liked these changes right away and they continue to bring momentum to this series."
