2022/07/28 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: Czech Round / Preview

WorldSSP season reaches halfway point in Most

Dominique Aegerter wants to further increase his points lead at round six of the 2022 FIM Supersport World Championship before the series enters a summer break lasting just under six weeks.

31-year-old Dominique Aegerter from Switzerland and his Dutch Ten Kate Racing team arrives at the Autodrom Most in the northwest of the Czech Republic with an incredibly impressive momentum. Of ten races so far this season, the Yamaha rider has won no less than nine in a row. He thus matched the record for the most consecutive victories in WorldSSP. Only at the first race in Aragón early in April Aegerter have to settle for second place.

The 4.2 kilometres long track in Most was only added to WorldSBK series’ calendar last year. Aegerter already knew it from the early years of his career when he was still gaining experience in International German Motorcycle Championship. At his return to Most exactly one year ago, he celebrated a victory and a second place in the races.

The Superpole and of course both races will be broadcast live by Austrian broadcaster ServusTV via live stream.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6)

"In Most we reach the halfway point of the season, which is going incredibly well for me and my Ten Kate team. We are going into the sixth meeting of the season with a sensational momentum. In addition, there are also fond memories of this race from last year. Starting from second on the grid, we won one race and finished one in second place. In the meantime, there should be some changes to the track, such as a new asphalt surface in sector one. Some of our competitors were already in Most this year when they took part as wildcard entries at the IDM round there. My team mate Leonardo Taccini was also there, and he and his crew certainly collected valuable data. That should reduce the disadvantage somewhat compared to the others, who were also in Most in June. But I am not too worried about, though."

"We will try to make good progress again on Friday and put ourselves in a good position for the races on Saturday. Hopefully we can continue as we have been doing so far. Our primary goal this time is again to extend our lead in the points table. I like the track in Most, its layout with some hard braking points in the first part suits my riding. Otherwise, the track is very fast and flowing. Overall, it is nice to ride here, and there are also some elevation changes along a lap. I cannot wait to get going again. I used the break after Donington to recover and get to sink in the experiences from there. I am ready for the next task, where we will hopefully be cheered on again by many fans and supporters. A big thank you to all the people who help achieve these incredible results."
