2022/08/21 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2022: Motorrad GP von Österreich / Sunday - Race 2

Third on Sunday in Spielberg

Although Dominique Aegerter finished on the podium twice in Austria, his lead in the overall Cup standings shrank from 31.5 to 17.5 points.

The Red Bull Ring, picturesquely located in the Styrian Murtal, was unfortunately not a good place for Dominique Aegerter this weekend. Starting from fifth on the grid, the 31-year-old Swiss rider had to make an enormous effort to make it onto the podium in both races. After finishing second on Saturday, he was able to limit the damage to his lead in the points table with third place in a hard-fought second race.

In just two weeks' time, the MotoE season finale will take place at the Misano circuit in Italy.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica)
Grid Position: 5th / Race 2: 3rd

"It was an important podium with important points for the overall standings. I am not only happy about that, but also for the spectators. I think they saw a spectacular race today, there were many hard fights. My start was better than yesterday, but on the first lap there was a slight contact with Pons. That cost me some time, and in the process, I lost a bit of contact with the leading group. In the next one or two laps we had to close the gap and after that there were wild battles for positions in the group."

"In the end it was enough for me again to be on the podium. I felt super comfortable with the bike, my crew did a fantastic job. We were able to make a few improvements. But it was impossible to miss that I was on the limit to follow the others. Nevertheless, we are still in possession of the overall lead and in two weeks the last two races are on the agenda. There we will give everything so that this title can no longer be taken away from us."
