On Friday morning, the 32-year-old Swiss rider and his classmates in Supersport category were sweepers at race pace during FP1 at the dirty track in Indonesia.

The start to the weekend at the second last stop of this year’s Supersport World Championship at the Indonesian island of Lombok was a bumpy one. Only a few days after the completion of the complete renovation of the 4.3-kilometer track at the Mandalika Circuit, free practice one took place, during which the riders had to contend with dirty and slippery track conditions.

Dominique Aegerter and his technicians from the Dutch Ten Kate team quickly realized that the data and settings they had collected last year were of no use. Due to the track’s difficult conditions, Aegerter also did not take any unnecessary risks and ended up in ninth place at the end of the second practice session in slightly better conditions. Apart from that all, Aegerter can bring the title decision about as early as this weekend.

On Saturday morning, it's straight into Superpole before the first race gets underway at 12:00 local time (05:00 CET). While ServusTV will offer a live stream in German-speaking countries as usual, "Eurosport 2" will go on air ten minutes before the starting lights go out.

"It was not an easy start to the weekend. But I think that's true for everyone. The circuit’s owners have done a good job with the new asphalt surface. The problem was that nobody rode on the track before, after the work was completed. At first it was very slippery out there. But with each lap that rubber was applied to the surface, it got better. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to do more laps and gain confidence. In the end, we finished the day in ninth place, 0.9 seconds off the fastest time."

"It looks like other manufacturers with more cubic capacity have a bit more grip and are able to push harder. Nevertheless, the lap times are still two seconds slower than my fastest time from last year. So, I hope that the track’s conditions will continue to change so that we can start differently tomorrow. Also, we will change the setup because we started with the base data from last year and after being so slow, we had to adjust that a little bit. In that respect, we really miss William, my crew chief. We are of course in constant contact, even if it is in the middle of the night at his place. So, a big thank you to him. But of course, it would be a big help if he is here on site."

"As far as the weather is concerned, we were lucky. It was dry all day, but the heat and high humidity are getting to us. Hopefully we will manage a good qualifying tomorrow. A start from the front row would be perfect, and in the race, we want to fight for the podium, which seems to be very difficult at the moment. Nevertheless, we will give everything and go to the limit. Tomorrow is a new day and because of the conditions everyone will get an extra tyre. Maybe we will also get more practice time, which would be very good because the track is getting faster with every lap, so it is in a better condition."
