In Sunday afternoon’s second main race of the Dutch round, Dominique Aegerter improved again and was delighted with fourth place, his best performance to date.

WorldSBK rookie Dominique Aegerter has since long established himself in the fiercely competitive championship with production-based 1000cc race bikes. At the third meeting of the season at the iconic TT Circuit of Assen in the north of the Netherlands, the 32-year-old Swiss again succeeded very impressively. Seventh place in the Superpole race in the morning was followed by an excellent fourth place just a few hours later. This gave Aegerter an appearance in the Paddock Show as best Independent team rider. An experience he was already familiar with at the season opener in Australia as third after Superpole.

The championship continues in two weeks with the meeting at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya just outside the Catalan capital.

"It was a great race; I am most happy about fourth place. This is my best result since I moved to World Superbike Championship. I had a good start and luckily, I was able to avoid doing the same mistake as yesterday. From the beginning to the last chicane, I had nice battles out there. It is nice to end the weekend like this and go home with a lot of points in the bag. But despite the great results this weekend, I am still in a learning process on how to ride this bike."

"I think we have a good base setup by now in terms of geometry and damping. But the superbikes have a lot of engine power. So, the electronics are much more important. In this respect, I can still improve how to better exploit the full potential of the bike. But the longer the race, the more our good race set-up comes into play. That allows us to save the tyres more. It was good to see in the main races so far that I was very fast towards the end of the race every time. That is certainly a very positive point. But we also need to be there in the first race laps, and we still need to improve in that area."

"I am happy with the package I have at the moment. Besides, my team is helping with an incredible amount, and there is also a lot of input and support from Yamaha. In addition, we can compare our data with that of the other Yamaha riders. That is an aspect you should not underestimate. The days on a race weekend are very long and I have to work hard to learn and understand everything better. That is the only way to get results. We will see how things develop. Barcelona is a very different track from here. Still, I hope we can make it back to the top group."
