2024/05/31 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Misano test

Good test for the restart of the season

A two-day test at Misano was the perfect opportunity for Dominique Aegerter and his Italian GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team to get back up to speed in time for the next FIM Superbike World Championship event in two weeks’ time.

Despite changeable weather this Thursday and Friday in the area of Rimini located at the Italian Adriatic coastline, Dominique Aegerter and his crew were able to fulfill most of the plan for these two days, even if the 33-year-old Swiss rider initially needed time to find his speed again after a long break.

Aegerter took an important step on the second afternoon to regain the feeling and confidence for his Yamaha Superbike. After two days, Aegerter was tenth in the combined timesheet, just over a second behind the best time.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, Yamaha YZF R1):

“First of all, a big thank you to my team, because they made an incredible effort to give me a bike that I feel much more comfortable with again than I did on the first day of this test. In general, we improved a lot this afternoon. We have moved in the right direction, which gives me a better feeling. On the first day we were still quite far off from the top. It was not easy to reach this point. But I think we now have a better base set-up with which we can head into the race weekend here in two weeks' time. I'm very happy with that.”

“During these two days, we didn't test everything that Yamaha brought along for this test. We had a bit of trouble with chassis set-up, the electronic settings and I wasn't immediately back on form from my side either. We first had to find our speed again, because if you are two seconds slower, there is no point for testing new parts. But at the end of the test, I am much more confident for the upcomingraces, because we have found a bike that is easy to ride, with which I can push harder and find the limit better. That's the most important thing, as is our position in the top 10, but on the race weekend I want to be in the top six.”
