#CatalanGP: BARCELONA GET UNDERWAY OFF THE PLAN

BARCELONA GET UNDERWAY OFF THE PLAN

During Friday’s first free practice sessions, Dominique Aegerter suffered a slight setback.

Two weeks after Dominique Aegerters remarkable return to action in Mugello, the Swiss rider went with high expectations into the race weekend at the once more recently modified Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Unlike during the Italian-Grand-Prix, however, Aegerter couldn’t find easily to get a proper feeling with his bike today. In addition, two crashes in one day are very unusual for the 27-year-old. Although he fell in both cases to the right side of his body, he escaped fortunately without further consequences. P17 in the combined practice times after day one doesn’t match the impressions of the ambitious racer from the canton of Bern.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kiefer Racing) FP1: P15 - 1´44.914 (21/21) / FP2: P25 - 1´45.686 (15/16):

"Honestly, I would have imagined a different start to the weekend. Two falls were absolutely not part of my plans. But the first one in morning had at least a positive side effect because I could test the airbag for the first time. At least I know now how it works and I can start gaining confidence in this system. Luckily, the bike didn’t get any worse damages and I got away unhurt either."

"Today, I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike. Apart from that, it was gratifying that we were pretty close to the top in the morning. However, we couldn’t improve during the second session. So, now it is time to look forward and to bring the bike as well as myself in a better shape for tomorrow because we have to get closer to the top again. During FP2 we clearly missed our target with regards to the lap time we wanted to do."
