Dominique Aegerter faces a new challenge this season when the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship kicks off in Australia this weekend.

After three years in Superbike World Championship, Dominique Aegerter returns to the middle category of the production-based championship with the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team. As a two-time world champion in this class in 2021 and 2022, many eyes are on him. The 35-year-old from Bern rides a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636, which proved its potential with two podium finishes at the end of last season.

In addition to switching to a motorcycle that is still unfamiliar to him and readjusting to the class, Aegerter also has to adapt to a completely different schedule on race weekends, which only includes one free practice session on Friday morning. In the afternoon of the same day, the Superpole takes place, in which the starting grid for the first race on Saturday is determined. The second race follows on Sunday.

All races in the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship and its supporting series, such as Supersport, will be broadcast live in HD and free of charge in German-speaking countries on the Austrian streaming platform «ServusTV On». In its home market of Austria, the Superbike World Championship will continue to be broadcast on linear television on ServusTV.

«I am really looking forward to starting the new season this weekend and taking on a new challenge. Preparations have been difficult, as the weather has often been uncooperative. During testing on Monday and Tuesday, I rode my first real laps in dry conditions aboard the Kawasaki. Nevertheless, I am highly motivated and in top form to make a fresh start in Supersport. The Phillip Island Circuit is one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world. However, the weather here is often very changeable. So, we will have to wait and see what the conditions will be like, as there could be some rain on Sunday. Apart from that, I am hoping for a good start to the weekend. I want to enjoy riding in free practice session on Friday morning and show my speed. The main goal in this project, which is still new to me, is to ride as many laps as possible and improve step by step. My team is leaving no stone unturned; we are working really hard for it. I am excited to race again.»
