For Dominique Aegerter and his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, the journey to the season's round two takes them to the Algarve coastline in southern Portugal.

Not only has the season opener of the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship in Australia been over for a while, but it continues to weigh on Dominique Aegerter’s mind. In both races, his motorcycle stopped on the final lap, costing him valuable Points for the championship. In the second race, the 35-year-old Swiss rider was even racing in a promising fourth place.

As soon as his Kawasaki team received all the equipment from Australia, they left no stone unturned in their efforts to identify and resolve the issues. A two-day test organized specifically for this purpose two weeks ago at the Cremona Circuit in northern Italy confirmed that everything is now working perfectly.

Aegerter knows the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve — arguably the most challenging track on the calendar, located not far from the port city of Portimão — like the back of his hand. After the test, he heads into the second round of the current championship with renewed confidence and rediscovered speed.

«I am really looking forward to Portimão because the rollercoaster track there offers a lot of fun to ride. After our bad luck in the first races in Australia, the team worked hard to identify the causes. They also organized a test in Cremona, where we were able to fix the problems, regain our confidence, and getting back to our speed. Portimão is a difficult track, but I like it. So, I am looking forward to seeing the team again and continuing our work. We well try to start the weekend strong on Friday with good results and a solid qualifying session. And then we will see what we can achieve on Saturday and Sunday.»
