Dominique Aegerter made a significant leap forward in the second Superpole session of the year: 16th on the grid in Portimão.
 
Amid glorious spring weather at Portugal’s Algarve coastline, the weekend got off to a somewhat disappointing start for Dominique Aegerter and his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team. The 35-year-old finished the only free practice session in 24th place - a result similar to his performance in Australia, where he couldn’t get past 22nd place on Friday morning and ended up in 23rd place in the afternoon then.

Expectations were higher following the private test in Cremona two weeks ago. In the decisive Superpole session, which determines the starting grid, Aegerter and his team made significant progress. Although he'll find himself back in the midfield with 16th on the grid, but he’s still starting two rows further up than he did at the season opener.

«The positive takeaway from today is that we have made some progress. However, starting from 16th is not the best position for tomorrow’s race. But we are not giving up; we will keep working hard to keep improving. We plan to try a few things during the warm-up, and then we will go in attack mode in the race to make up positions and close the gap to the leaders.»
