Following a solid performance, Dominique Aegerter finished in 11th place on Saturday in the second race of the still-young 2026 campaign.
Just as the glorious spring weather at Portugal’s Algarve coastline this week, the encouraging uphill trend that Dominique Aegerter had set in motion during Friday’s Superpole, continued. The 35-year-old Swiss rider, who started the weekend’s first race from 15th place, lost three positions in the opening laps but then overtook his rivals one after another.
In the final stages, the Kawasaki rider even had a chance to finish in the top ten. His rivals were Italian rider Federico Caricasulo and his teammate Jeremy Alcoba. On the final lap, the Italian — who rides the same bike as today's winner — edged out Alcoba in that group. Aegerter crossed the finish line just a hair’s breadth behind the Spaniard.
Following his flawless performance, Aegerter is looking forward with confidence to Race-Sunday day in Portimao, where he hopes to make further progress. After moving up one position on the grid for today's race, Aegerter will start the second race from 16th place, in line with his Superpole result.

Grid position 15 / Race 1: P11
«We scored our first points today, and I am happy with that. Starting from P15 on the grid did not exactly make things easy for us, but I have regained some confidence and provided my team with a lot of valuable data to work on. However, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. After today’s performance in the race, I am looking forward to tomorrow, where hopefully we can further improve a bit in warm-up. Since the weather forecast promises good weather, the outlook for the second race could not be better. I really hope we can step it up a notch and make it into the top ten. A big thank you to everyone for the support. I truly appreciate how hard everyone is working.»
