In Rae 2 at the historic TT Circuit, Dominique Aegerter was unable to repeat his outstanding performance from yesterday. A fifteenth-place finish and just one point were a modest result.

The weather at the last day of the third race weekend of the season was very typical for this time of year in the north of the Netherlands. A heavily overcasted sky and occasional drops of rain set the tone. In addition, very cool temperatures were anything but inviting for a motorcycle race.

Dominique Aegerter went into the second race at Assen’s «Cathedral of Speed» with justified hopes. For one thing, yesterday’s race had given a massive boost, as had his good starting position on row two. Unfortunately, the Kawasaki rider was unable to capitalize on this. He lost several positions already on the way to the first corner and through the corner itself.

In the following laps, the 35-year-old was caught up in fierce battles for position, which not only prevented him from regaining lost ground at the start and during the Opening lap. The race was red-flagged due to another rider’s crash. At that point, Aegerter was in 15th place but had the speed needed to make up ground again.

«Today’s race did not go as expected. That said, conditions out there were pretty tricky. At the start, the track was a bit wet, and there were even a few drops of rain in some sectors. In the end, we finished in P15 and scored one point. That’s obviously disappointing. On top of that, we had some bad luck, as I had two or three heavy contacts with other riders and every time I got pushed off the track a bit, causing me to lose another several positions. Another point was the red flag six laps before the end. I think I could have improved my position a bit till the checkered flag. Nevertheless, we need to keep improving, do our homework, and hopefully we will be able to test somewhere before the next race to improve our overall package, because we are not there yet where we want to be. Yesterday certainly was not a bad day. Still, we have a lot of work ahead of us. We have to believe in our abilities and try to give our best every time.
