Although Dominique Aegerter managed to move forward six positions in the first race at the Balaton Park Circuit thanks to a solid performance, he was only partially satisfied with four championship points collected in the end on Saturday.

After the cool temperatures of the past few days, Saturday in Hungary finally brought spring-like conditions. Temperatures were already much more pleasant in the morning. From Dominique Aegter’s perspective, the ten-minute warm-up for the first race at Lake Balaton did not have the desired effect. P26 and a gap of more than two seconds continued to cause him and his technicians headaches regarding the setup of his Kawasaki Supersport machine for the race.

At 2:00 p.m. local time, when the starting lights went out, Aegerter got off to a good start but lost a position on the first lap — he had left the line from 18th spot and crossed the start-finish line in P19 after the opening lap. Once the usual chaos at the beginning of the 18-lap race distance had settled down, he found a good, consistent rhythm that allowed him to quickly close the gap to the rider ahead of him each time and overtake them just as quickly. Aegerter fought his way up to twelfth place. Meanwhile, his teammate Jeremy Alcoba’s fourth-place finish gives Aegerter hopes that he, too, will soon see a steady upward trend.

In the provisional starting grid for Sunday's second race, Aegerter drops back to 20th place.

«Our starting position certainly wasn’t a help even we moved one position forward, but I gave it my all and we finished in 12th place. We left no stone unturned in our efforts to improve and go faster, but we’re still struggle a bit getting a better feeling for the bike. That’s why we’re going to make a few adjustments till tomorrow and test them in the morning during warm-up. It won’t be easy to get a feedback in just ten minutes, though. Still, hopefully we can improve our situation for Race 2 then, especially in terms of lap times, to get closer to the top guys. But first, congratulations to Jeremy on fourth place today. He did a great job. But we need to get there too and fight at the front. Still, we have to stay calm, because we know it still will take a bit more time. I know that I can do this together with my crew. For now, we’ll keep working hard to figure out where and how we can improve our package in a short term. Tomorrow, though, we’ll be back at full throttle.»
