Dominique Aegerter suffered another bitter disappointment on Saturday in the first race of the Aragón weekend. Finishing in 17th place, he once again failed to score any points. 

Despite glorious early summer weather in the otuback of Spain’s eastern coastline and cooler temperatures than on the previous days, as well as the support from many fans form Switzerland coming to cheer him, Dominique Aegerter couldn’t muster a smile after the first day of racing at the fantastic MotorLand Aragón circuit.

Instead of being able to push for a top finish, the 35-year-old Kawasaki rider played only a minor role in the eleventh race of the season, barely managing to make up any ground after coming home from the opening lap in 23rd place. After a long evening spending analyzing the data, Aegerter is hoping that Sunday’s warm-up will mark a turning point.

«We finished outside the points again. That’s obviously frustrating and disappointing. But I gave it my all on every lap and in every corner, doing the best I could with what I have. We still haven’t found that click that would let us go faster. For my part, I’m trying to adapt my riding style to the bike as best I can, and the team is helping me as much as they can. It’s keeping us up at night, and we have a lot of work ahead of us. I’m terribly sorry for the entire Kawasaki Racing family that I’m not delivering better results. We definitely want to be better, and hopefully we can show our true potential soon. These are difficult times, but we won’t give up. Tomorrow is a new day, and we’ll try something new again in the warm-up so that we can hopefully finish this weekend with some good points. Thanks to everyone, see you tomorrow.»
