This weekend, the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship returns to action at Magny-Cours, France. For Dominique Aegerter, it’s a long-awaited event that brings the seven-week break to a close practically on his doorstep.

For several years now, the World Championship round at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in Burgundy, France, has marked the start of the series after the summer break. The racetrack is located about 250 kilometers south of Paris and roughly the same distance northwest of Lyon. Since 2003, Magny-Cours has been a fixture on the championship calendar for production-based motorcycles.
 
Because of its proximity to his hometown, this race holds special significance for Dominique Aegerter, as the 35-year-old from Rohrbach is accompanied to Magny-Cours every year by numerous fans and supporters. After a difficult season so far, the Kawasaki rider hopes to use the final race weekends of the current season to reestablish himself at the top.

«I’m really looking forward to finally racing again after this long summer break. A seven-week break is way too long for a championship. To stay in the groove, I competed in a few motocross races in my home in Switzerland. That’s my passion, and it’s also good training, especially for maintaining my speed and staying in shape. Last week, we were in Cremona with the Kawasaki team for a test to get in some important laps on track. That was a welcome opportunity to get back up to speed before the next WSSP round. Magny-Cours is a racetrack near Switzerland. That’s why I consider this weekend as another home race for me. Since it’s only a five-hour drive from my home, I expect many fans and personal sponsors to come and support me there. Above all, though, I hope to start the final quarter of the season on a positive and fast note, much stronger than the season has gone so far. I’ll give it my all and hope that we can achieve better results and bring the Kawasaki to the top.»
