Dominique Aegerter had to give his all in Sunday’s race in Magny-Cours to avoid leaving France empty-handed.

The season’s round nine at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours did not go at all as Dominique Aegerter had hoped, as he had headed to neighbouring Burgundy with high expectations. He had so desperately wanted to thrill his accompanying family as well as the many fans and sponsors in attendance with better performances. 

Unfortunately, after a detailed analysis of the data from Saturday’s race, his team couldn’t find the right click in terms of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 settings that would have helped the 35-year-old Swiss rider set a faster pace. In addition, the start of the race was more turbulent for Aegerter than he would have liked. He started from P18 on the grid and lost several positions on the first lap, which he was only able to make up after a while.

Just as the rider from the Canton of Bern was gradually finding a consistent rhythm, the race had to be stopped due to an incident as the bike of a crashed rider had damaged an Airfence module, which had to be replaced.

Aegerters' second start into the shortened distance to five laps didn't go much better than his first. He was unable to defend his position and found himself caught up in a large pack where the riders were battling fiercely for their positions. At the finish line, the ambitious athlete had to settle for 15th place.

The championship will continue in three weeks with the third-to-last event of the season at the Cremona Circuit in northern Italy.

«At the end of a difficult weekend here at Magny-Cours, we scored one point. That’s better than coming away empty-handed, but it’s definitely not what we want. I can say that I gave it my all again today and pushed very hard. However, the race was interrupted by a red flag about halfway through, so after the restart we had a five-lap sprint. During that, I got caught up in a fierce battle with many riders. It was a constant back-and-forth with a lot of position changes, which didn’t exactly help my rhythm. In the end, I was able to hold my own against most of them, and we crossed the finish line in 15th place. The season is far from over. That’s why we’ll continue to work hard as a team, joining forces, and I, too, will do my homework very thoroughly. This weekend, we gave it our all, and everyone in the team worked very hard and showed a lot of dedication. Unfortunately, our results don’t reflect that. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate my teammate, Jeremy Alcoba. He rode a great race and proved that the bike is fast. So, we’re not giving up. We’ll see each other again in three weeks in Cremona, the team’s home round, and, given its proximity to where I live in Switzerland, another home race for me as well. We’ll leave no stone unturned to perform better there and in the remaining races. But first, I’d like to thank the entire team for their tireless efforts to help me get faster on the Kawasaki.»
